Run your portfolio through the framework

This is the exact framework I used for every portfolio review in the Lounge. Same tiers, same 80/20 benchmark, same 25% flag, same questions. The difference is you're running it, not me. Put your holdings in, tag them yourself, and be honest with your answers. Nothing you type leaves your browser and nothing is saved when you close the page. Keep this link inside the community please.

This is an educational tool, not financial advice and not a personal recommendation. It doesn't know your circumstances and it doesn't assess whether any investment is right for you. The Trading Lounge is not authorised or regulated by the Financial Conduct Authority. Your capital is at risk. Do your own research.
1

Your capital

Total invested across every account and pie you want to look at. If you've got more than one, add them together and count any stock that shows up twice as one position. The tiers below are the ones pinned in #number-of-stocks-per-portfolio.

2

Your positions

You tag each holding, not me. If you're not sure which bucket something sits in, ask in #bluechip-investing-discussion or #speculative-investing-discussion. Brand new? Head to #1-beginner-zone-start-here first.

How the buckets are defined
  • Bluechip: big, established, consistently profitable companies. The names you'd happily hold for five years plus without checking the price every day.
  • ETF: any tracker or thematic fund. ETFs count as Bluechip in this framework. The spread inside them protects your downside, even when the theme is aggressive.
  • Non-Bluechip: everything else. High growth names still proving themselves, companies not yet making money, and the story stocks. If you're not sure, it's Non-Bluechip.

The framework read

Where you are, based on what you've entered. This isn't a score and I'm not marking you. It's the same handful of things I looked at in every review, and each one ends in a question only you can answer. It says nothing about whether any of these investments are right for you.

Add your positions and hit Run the framework.

4

Stress tests

I'm going to be honest here: this is the bit most people skip, and it's the bit that actually changes portfolios. Pick whichever answer is closest to the truth, not the one that sounds best. If the honest answer is "not sure", a box opens up so you can work it through.

Run the framework first, the stress tests use your numbers.

Things to sit with

Everything worth a second look, in one place. Save it as a PDF and come back to it after the next earnings season. If you want to talk your thinking through (your thinking, not your tickers), that's what the discussion channels are for.
